Submission Guidelines for: Whispers of a Stone Circle Submissions are always welcomed and can be made to: Sheila K. Watkins at: zeliziw@jbinc.com In submitting materials, writers are agreeing that if accepted Whispers of a Stone Circle reserves non-exclusive, publication rights to any accepted works and may post them in the newsletter and on the web page Works submitted must be the writer's own work and they must still retain the copyright. Works that have been published previously are acceptable with a notice of where this publication has occurred. Copyright remains in the author's possession after publication. The Author also realizes that at this point in time they will not be paid. If a submission is accepted, the Editor of Whispers of a Stone Circle will check for punctuation, capitalization and spelling in submitted articles and will fix minor errors if they are present. The editor will NOT reword things (except for an occasional "an" for "a" and vice versa.) If a submitted article shows potential but needs work, the Editor will contact the writer and work with him or her to polish it up before publication All articles, poems, etc, except where noted are copyrighted by the writers and are used with permission. They are not to be republished without the express permission of the writers. Articles extending further than 1500 words will be considered for serial publication. Poetry - submissions of up to five poems at a time will be considered. Fiction/Non-fiction - 500 words minimum, 1500 words maximum, submissions extending further than 1500 words will be considered for serial publication. Recipe submissions - Up to two recipes 1000 word maximum Crafting submissions - 350 words minimum, 2000 words maximum. Preferably submissions should be in word wrapped text files (.txt) or MS Word document files (.doc) although submissions in the body of an e-mail will be accepted. These files should be submitted attached to your "cover page". The cover page should be in the body of the email. It should include the following information: title, type of submission, (Poetry, article etc.), word count, author name (You may use a pen name, magickal name or given name.) a short bio of no more then 3-4 sentences, email and URL if you wish. Please label subject line as follows: Submission for Whispers of a Stone Circle. Submissions may be made at any time and if accepted held for future publication. We are seeking submissions on the following subjects: pagan parenting, recipes (both magical ~ incenses and oils ~ and food for gatherings. A special need for Vegetarian recipes.), handicrafts with a pagan twist, articles on different pagan paths (no path bashing please) fiction and non-fiction stories (please identify which in cover letter), poetry, songs, meditations and rituals. If you have a submission which does not fit into any of these guidelines please submit a query letter. Things which will disqualify a submission: Plagiarism in whole or in part (Please make sure to properly quote sources) Hateful or path-bashing material Pieces with unsubstantiated facts will not be published. If any article is found to be plagiarized after publication, it will be stripped from the site, and a notice put in it's place. We also reserve the right to notify others of the plagiarism.
